Ok, I'm new here. I've been meaning to look around for a community like this for a while. Ever since About.com changed their forum layout to something completely annoying to navigate. And thus, I left the About.com NovemberBabies forum.
I just recently had to re-joined LiveJournal, after a long, long break from it.
Started anew with a new username, layout, etc.
(Thus why I have like, no entries yet. So no, I'm not a troll ^.~)
So I figured I'd look for a similar communtiy. My interest search on 'pregnancy' brought me to a few month names, but the closest I could find was 'november2004' So, on a whim, I typed in 'november2005' as a username, and well... here I am!
Enough of my rambling-- on with the basic survey thing.
1. Name: Gina (Nickname: Sirithre)
2. Due Date: November 10th, 2005
3. Is this a single, twins, triplets, etc: Single
4. How old are you?: 20 (Just barely-- turned on May 4th)
5. Do you have any other children? (if so, age and boy/girl?): Nope
6. Do you know the sex, or want to know?: It's a boy!
7. Do you have names picked out, and if so would you like to share?: The father wants to name it David, after his father (His father died when he was a little over a year old, so he goes through this whole "I never had a father..." woe is me thing. I personally dislike the name, being a bit too boring for me, but he is really insistent on it, so... yeah. I wanted him named Aiden (Irish- Fiery spirit), but it's been turned into a middle name. So the 'official' name as of now is David Aiden. At least it's not a girl, or he'd want to name it Yvette. (err.. ew?)
8. Was this a planned pregnancy or a surprise?: Definitely a surprise O.o;
Thought I'd pass on that the Gap is having a huge sale on their summer line and when I received my order yesterday, I got a 15% off coupon for an order July! They have some cute maternity clothes and the sale brings their prices down from the lofty heights the Gap usually charges to reasonable.
This is more of a rant than a question. On Tuesday I was (voluntarily) lifting a lot of heavy envelopes etc. My co-workers didn't stop me (I guess they thought I knew my limits) but being the ever helpful person I am, I just kept lifting. Well, when I took these envelopes to the post office loading dock, the guys there wouldn't let me lift a thing, their words were, "We're not trained to deliver a baby so you're not lifting" which made me laugh and was really nice. Well, I had a meeting for GOP that night and got home kind of late. I was exhaused and went to bed pretty early. I got up on Wednesday and had sharp pains in my lower abdomen (I'm assuming they were ligament stretching) and was totally exhausted. I called into work saying I was too sore and not feeling well and was going to stay home. It's not like it was a busy day (Fri's and Mon's are busiest) and we didn't have any meetings so I assumed it wasn't a big deal. Of course, when I get here today, I get a bit of the cold shoulder. Grrr. This is going to be a long 20 weeks left.
and I haven't really been a lurker (I've commented on a couple posts). My husband was poking around the community today and told me I was remiss in not submitting my profile-thingy. So here goes:
1. Name: Sandy
2. Due Date: Nov 16
3: Is this a single, twins, triplets, etc: Single
4. How old are you?: 26
5. Do you have any other children? (if so, age and boy/girl?): Nope
6. Do you know the sex, or want to know?: I'm 6 of one, half dozen of another. My husband desperately wants to know, so we'll find out if we can.
7. Do you have names picked out, and if so would you like to share?: We're pretty sure about the girl name, but still a little lost on a boy name
8. Was this a planned pregnancy or a surprise?: Sorta planned, I went off the pill. But I wasn't counting ovulation days or anything.
So yesterday, Dave picked me up from work and we went to the ultrasound. Of course, we forgot the tape in the car, and he had to go back and get it. It seemed like EVERYONE in the waiting room got to go in before me, even people who came after me. Dave told me not to be nervous, apparently I was acting like a small puppy, chewing my gum fast etc. About 20 mins PAST my appointment time, we got in. The tech squirted warm gel on my tummy and off we went. The first image to come up on the screen was of Bug, waving at us. =)
The tech went about measuring and looking, saying everything was looking great. We were amazed to see our little one on the screen. Our calcuations say I was 18 weeks, hers said 17 weeks 2 days, so she said that they don't change the due date unless we were 14 days off. The tech asked if we wanted to know the sex, and we said yes. She turned to her assistant and said, "Do you see what I see?" The assistant said, "Yes." and she pointed out Bug's little penis. It's a boy! I looked back at Dave, we were both shocked because we thought it was a girl (I was thinking boy at first, then started thinking girl). She almost had a great profile shot of him and he put his hand in front of his face. Yep, this is our kid...stubborn as all get out! She then tried to measure his head and he posed with his hand and arm behind his head. What a goofy boy! =)
The tech then asked if it was okay for her assistant to practice on me (of course! if it means I get to see bug!) so we watched while she found the stomach etc. The Doctor came in and checked everything out. He said that everything looked okay with the exception of the kidneys, which is a common problem with boys and 90% of the time it is nothing, so he wants to schedule another ultrasound in about 10 weeks. This time it will be a 3D one!
The tech then made the video for us, found his penis again and froze the screen, typed, "Grandma, what am I" allowed time for pause, then pointed out the penis with the arrow and typed, "I'm a boy!" She also showed his little feet, his head and tried to get a profile of him. Little turkey put his hand in front of his face again. It was just amazing to see him dancing around in there.
On the way back to the office, Dave kept saying, "I'm going to have a son!" (I think I really had him convinced that it was a girl.) I called my mom (she has one grandson from my brother) and told her it was a boy. She said, "I'll have to stop buying girl stuff." I don't think she's disapointed at all, but I think she was really hoping for a girl. Once I got back to the office Lisa wanted to see the pics and Joan called to ask about the sex.
Around 5:15 Dave's parents showed up to watch the tape. His mom was watching it crouched on the floor and his dad was standing next to me watching it. When the tech typed, "Grandma, what am I?" She said, "I don't know what I'm looking at!" Then the arrow went to the penis and I'm a boy! was typed on the screen. She screamed and jumped up, came over and gave me a big hug and started crying. It's the first grandkid for his parents and the first boy on that side. Dave's dad smiled, gave me the thumbs up and said, "Good work." LOL. I said, "It was your son who picked out the sex, not me!" So needless to say, they are overjoyed. I'm sure they'd been happy if Bug was a girl too, but boys are few and far between in his family.
When we got home, Dave kept talking about how he can take a boy to comic book conventions, etc. And it helped when we were looking at names...only had to look at half of the book! We can't wait to have the 3D ultrasound now, but it was wonderful to see him on the screen! Well, bug is going to meet his first politician today as we have an event with former Atty General John Ashcroft. =)
Boy! And a very proud boy at that...I will post more about the ultrasound later. :-)
We have our first ultrasound today! Horray! Hopefully they will be able to determine the gender of the baby. I'm 18 weeks today, is that too early? Plus the nurse told me I didn't need to drink a lot of water...is that true?
So my aunt, who acts all holier than thou, had a kid graduating from home school. Well, of course I got the guilt trip about how Dave and I aren't married, and I acted like what she was saying didn't bother me. Needless to say, we didn't stick around the graduation any longer than we had to. Well, on the way home, I started thinking about what she said (big mistake because she's got no room to talk) and started getting really upset.
Well, when we got home, I used the restroom and started having tightness in my abdomen. I went to the bed to lie down and started having REALLY TIGHT cramps-to the point where I was bawling (which didn't help because I was getting worked up about this too) and Dave was starting to freak, but trying to calm me down. He rubbed my back, talked in a calm voice etc.
I don't know if it was Braxton Hicks or what but it really freaked me out. Is there such a thing as stress contractions? I haven't noticed any change in discharge (increase or color) and I think I heard the babe on the bebe sounds monitor sunday morning when I got up. I'm 18w tomorrow. What was I feeling? I haven't had any since I was able to calm down. What was that?
*Edit* I will be going in for an ultrasound tomorrow, but I was hoping you all could tell me what it was I was feeling...
